An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Property to oversee our Asset, Facilities and Building Surveying teams and to lead on the creation of our asset management strategy.

The role
The Head of Property acts as the lead subject matter expect on asset management and investment issues in the Council. The role will be required to build relationships with external stakeholders and also liaise with senior decision makers including councillors and service directors.

This post will be accountable for creation of the Council’s asset management strategy, leading on an action plan to ensure that it is implemented and to manage performance of the portfolio and various teams which contribute to the management of Council assets.

This post will be responsible for leading on system improvements and ensuring an integrated IT solution is implemented effectively across the property team. They will identify opportunities for income generation and ensure capital returns from the portfolio.

About you
You will have a relevant qualification in a property discipline and be a chartered surveyor (MRICs or FRICS). You will have experience working at a senior management level and a good knowledge of council services, relating to asset management, including facilities management, building surveying and property investment and divestment. Strong political awareness is required. Knowledge and experience of commercial transactions and business drivers affecting local authorities is a key requirement. You will be a strong leader of staff, familiar with motivating and mentoring. A full driving licence is required.
